Go Little Auks! Have a great season! The new information indicating that an ice free arctic may occur as soon as this summer makes your research more important than ever. Best of luck for a safe and productive trip -we will miss you here in Sunny Socal!

Dear Nell
It’s so nice to read the blog! You look pretty darn cute! I bet the auks do too. Any resemblance to our stuffed avian mascot? Can you post a close-up?

I would also love to be there with you as a Molecular Biologist and Genetist. You are very lucky to have journeys like this. Hope we can have similar journeys from Turkey as well. :)

It looks like a very nice place to visit to run away from problems.
We are making environmental genetics research so this could be interesting place to visit for sampling as well, thanks for the beautiful pictures.

Hi there up north… I really envy you the time in the colony with all the LIAK’s flying around. I can see that you have a great time there. It looks like you are settled in for good in the base. I hope you will finally be able to sample some zooplankton brought to the nests by adults. I wonder what will be this year like in terms of food composition???
