Hey guys. I am starting to write my paper, but I also still have a little bit of research to do. I am writing about “Heinrich, or the Love of Gold”. The story itself criticizes not only the idolatry of gold and money, but (I am hoping) also criticizes the ideas of self help and perseverance. However, I am worried that I will not be able to develop a lot from this one view point. I also know during this time that the Victorian family was under a lot of stress, and spouses were generally working apart and had little time together. Does anybody have any ideas or research that could connect the ideas of self help and Victorian family breakdown?
