This ad relies heavily on national stereotypes. I couldn’t understand what they were saying but I’m not sure if the German (i think) is real. It may actually be better if you can’t undertsand the words but I’m not sure.

This is a really interesting ad. I’m not sure what to think of it. I origionally thought it was a spoof but it’s real.

In the durex commercial I just posted, pay special attention to the background music.
We have discussed in class how music really ads to the commercials and this is a really good example of that. I also realized that it could be promoting an attribute of the product but maybe that’s a stretch.
I thought this was a great ad. It’s really funny and actually made me laugh out loud.

I just saw an online ad for life insurance. THere was a picture of a little girl asking her day “what will happen to me if you and mommy die?”. The child is the only one fully in the picture, her dad’s hand it the only part of him visible.

This kinda relates to our conversation about celebrities and also to the conversation we’ve been having the whole semester about ads playing to people’s individualism. The catchphrase of this ad is “anyone can be famous”. It seems to be capitalizing on people’s obsession with celebrity while still appealing to the “common man”.

There has been some discussion of here about scare tactic anti-drug ads.
This one is from Australia in 1990. I thought it was really eerie and pretty effective, mostly because of the use of kids.
