Enterprise Commercial
I was searching for this ad that I saw while watching the NHL playoffs and I found it on youtube (funny story): I HATED the ad because I feel like it really blatantly uses female sex appeal to try to rent cars to men (their target audience is probably, for the most part, men because htey advertise during the NHL playoffs). The funny thing is that on youtube it was called “worst ad ever”
See if you agree:

i agree that the commercial wasn’t particularly engaging, but
a) it was probably made a long time ago, when that type of thing wasn’t so cheesy,
b) in many other posts, people have been praising ads with sexual or even loosely flirty innuendos. this ad does the same thing.
c) lunafeliz, have you seen the commercial that 77 posted? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2uLkE2u1f0
it very blatanlty uses a woman to sell to men, but 77′s friend liked it, as i think many people do. maybe the difference is that in 77′s ad, the girl is the seductress (ie, in charge) as opposed to your post, where the girls are clueless. 77′s ad (which is likely more modern) is more empowering for women.
i have considered working for enterprise. they actually came to the pomona career fair and have been rated as one of the best first jobs for a graduating college student to work, according to businessweek. i think this ad is sorta bad for women, but it is a sign of the times when it was created. i think enterprise has adapted as it has learned better.

This ad is hella corny… it makes me want to rent from anywhere but enterprise… F for effort, enterprise! Also, it seems like they’re only using the women to catch the attention of men, rather than saying men would get women from renting the car… just another interpretation
